Your cycle is some of the most personal information there is, so here's exactly how we look after it, in plain language. Our privacy policy has the full detail.
The short version
- We never sell your data, rent it, or share it with advertisers or data brokers.
- No ads. Not in the app, not on this website.
- No trackers. We don't use analytics, advertising or crash-reporting tools: no Google Analytics, no PostHog, no Mixpanel, no ad SDKs. We don't collect advertising IDs or your location.
- Supporters see only what you switch on, and nothing until you approve them.
- You can export and delete your data from the app.
Where your data lives
Your account and cycle data are stored in our database on Google Cloud (Firebase), in data centres in the EU, India (Mumbai), the United States and Singapore.
- Everything travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and it's encrypted at rest on Google's servers.
- Database rules mean your private data can be read only by you. A supporter can read only the slice you share, and only while your connection is active.
- Our team's admin tools show account basics (name, email, sign-up date), never your cycle data, logs, journal or Luna chats.
One honest note: Periodiva is not end-to-end encrypted. Your data is stored on our servers so it can sync across your devices and so you can share a slice of it with a supporter. If you'd rather your data never leaves your phone at all, some apps work that way, with fewer features. Our guide to choosing a private period tracker explains the trade-off.
What stays on your phone
Daily care reminders, care check-ins and the water glasses you tick off stay on your device and are never sent to us.
Luna, your AI companion
Luna's replies come from Google's Gemini service.
- What we send to Google: your first name, whether you're tracking or supporting, your current cycle phase and cycle day, and the messages in the current conversation.
- What we don't send: your daily logs, journal, date of birth or email address.
- We use Google's paid Gemini service. Under its terms, Google doesn't use your prompts or Luna's replies to improve its products. Google may keep them for a limited time only to detect misuse of its service (Gemini API terms).
- Your Luna chats are saved to your account so you can come back to them, and you can delete any chat in the app.
- Voice: if you speak instead of typing, your phone's own speech recognition (from Apple or Google) turns your voice into text.
Luna offers general wellbeing information, not medical advice.
What a supporter can see
A new connection shares nothing until you approve it. Then you choose from: whether you're on your period, your predictions, your cycle phase, and, from the last 45 days, your symptoms, moods, pain and medication names and times.
Supporters never see your flow, notes, journal, energy, sleep, water, medication doses, date of birth or photo. You can pause a connection, which hides everything straight away, or disconnect.
Who helps us run Periodiva
A few services process data on our behalf, only to run the app:
- Google Firebase and Google Cloud: sign-in and the database
- Google Gemini: Luna's replies
- Cloudflare: our secure server functions (sign-in codes, the waitlist, the Luna connection)
- Resend: sign-in code emails
- Cloudinary: your profile photo, if you add one
- Expo, Apple and Google: push notifications
Deleting your data
- Delete your cycle data: Settings → Privacy & data → Delete all cycle data removes your periods and daily logs.
- Delete a Luna chat: open it and delete it.
- Delete your account: Settings → Privacy & data → Delete account removes your account, profile, cycle data, logs, journal, supporter connections and invitations.
- Anything else: email privacy@periodiva.com and we'll delete everything we hold about you, including your profile photo, Luna chats and waitlist entry, within 30 days.
To get a copy of your data, use Settings → Privacy & data → Export.

This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics. It remembers only whether you've already seen the intro animation, in your browser's session storage.
Our free period calculator and ovulation calculator run entirely in your browser: nothing you enter is saved or sent anywhere. If you join the waitlist, we store your email address, the date and where you signed up, and use it only to tell you when Periodiva launches.
